Legacy Linen for Masterful Oil Painting

Claessens Oil Primed Fine Texture Linen Rolls are crafted from premium Belgian flax, offering a smooth, tightly woven surface ideal for intricate brushwork. Claessens Linen Rolls are meticulously crafted to meet the highest standards of professional painting. Renowned worldwide for their superior quality, each roll undergoes a rigorous and highly specialized manufacturing process to ensure an exceptional painting surface that supports longevity and artistic excellence.

For oil-primed linen canvas rolls, Claessens applies a ground layer of zinc white bound with linseed oil using traditional trowel-like knives. This is followed by careful sanding and the application of a second titanium white-based layer, also applied by hand. The canvas is then air-dried in a dedicated drying room for three days. Double-primed and triple-primed canvases repeat this process for added depth and absorption quality, with the final drying period extending up to 10 days to allow for natural curing. The result is an archival-quality linen canvas that offers unmatched surface integrity, texture, and durability—ideal for your most ambitious and enduring works of art.
